Over the past year, the regulatory environment for businesses has changed in a number of areas—and not always in a way that imposes additional obligations. Some long-awaited rules have actually taken effect, while others have been postponed or simplified, or the scope of companies affected by them has changed significantly.
We will place individual news items in context according to the areas they pertain to. In the areas of data, technology, and business resilience, we will focus primarily on the new Czech critical infrastructure regime. We will also briefly review current developments in the areas of artificial intelligence, personal data protection, cybersecurity, the Cyber Resilience Act, and the Data Act. Given the scope of these topics, we will cover them in greater detail in separate webinars and seminars.
In the areas of ESG, sustainability, and supply chains, we will examine significant changes in European regulation, including simplifications and shifts in the CSRD and CSDDD frameworks, as well as current developments surrounding the EUDR. We will also discuss other upcoming obligations in supply chains.
We will devote special attention to product and consumer regulation. We will discuss the new rules for packaging and packaging waste under the PPWR, changes regarding liability for damage caused by product defects, the right to repair, and new obligations related to consumer protection, online contract formation, and environmental claims.
In the section on corporate compliance and the liability of legal entities, we will focus on current developments in the Czech Republic and Europe, including changes relevant to the criminal liability of legal entities, anti-corruption compliance, and environmental crimes.
We will also discuss the new European AML framework, including the gradual transition to more uniform rules and preparations for the new directly applicable AML regulation.
In conclusion, we’ll take a look at what’s in store at both the European and Czech levels for the end of 2026 and 2027, and which upcoming changes it’s a good idea to start keeping an eye on now.
